New Hope Housing Properties are home to single adults with limited incomes. Each apartment has a private bath, microwave and refrigerator and comes fully furnished with a bed, nightstand, desk and storage space.  Residents have access to a large community kitchen with dining area, coin-operated washers and dryers on site, library and television room with cable and free movies.  New Hope is know for featuring attractive community areas and beautiful outdoor green spaces.  Most properties have a business center with free access to faxes, computers and Internet.  All properties are fully monitored with 24/7 front desk coverage.  Rent range – $455-599 per month which includes free utilities and cable TV access.  Security deposit and application fees apply.

Requirements:  

  • Be an adult who lives alone (regardless of marital status – no more than 1 person per unit
  • Live on limited and/or fixed income (30% to 70% AMI defined as $13,000 to $28,000
  • Have an income greater than 1.5 times the tenant’s portion of the rental amount
  • Have means to pay rent (can be from employment income, social security benefits, or sponsorship through an outside agency or individual
  • Pass a criminal background check

Housing and supportive services for women ex-offenders who have been previously in a halfway house for 120 days and referred for transitional housing.  The women receive the tools they need to become self-sufficient through a 12-month intensive program that offers each client a mentor, independent living and minimal structure.

Single Residential Occupancy (SRO) permanent housing units for single men and women who are veterans and homeless.  These units are open to all regardless of race, color, creed, sex, religion, national origin, disabled conditions or gender identification.  Must have very low income.  Emergency food pantry is available to residents in need.  All rooms equipped with microwave, small fridge, and single bed furniture.  Cable if available on a large screen television in the lobby area.  Located downtown in the shadow of Minute Maid baseball stadium with easy access to the metro rail system.

The City of Houston Department of Health and Human Services has developed a Community Re-Entry Network Program.  The program consists of life skills training, substance abuse education, job development, basic needs referrals and case management, as well as peer support.  New client orientation – Mondays at 8:00 am.  Must have a photo ID and proof of income if you have any.
